Education

When you sign up for an education service, you are never locked in forever. Whether you have finished a course, hit a tight budget, or simply outgrown the platform, you have a clear legal right to walk away. Tocancel exists to make that process simple, so you can cancel from home without printing a single page.

Your consumer rights

In Singapore, the Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act (CPFTA) shields you when you subscribe to education services. This law gives you the right to clear information about your subscription terms, including cancellation policies and any charges. More importantly, you can dispute unfair fees and request refunds if a provider fails to deliver what it promised.

Notice periods

Some providers may require a notice period before your cancellation takes effect. Check your contract to see how many days in advance you must act. This means you can plan your exit without paying for an extra month you do not need.

Refunds

If a service does not meet its advertised promises, you can ask for your money back. Under the CPFTA, you have the right to challenge charges that feel unfair. In practice, a formal cancellation letter strengthens your position when requesting a refund.

Common reasons to cancel

Life changes, and so do your learning needs. Here are the most frequent reasons people cancel their education subscriptions.

Course completion

Once you finish a course on platforms like Coursera or Masterclass, continuing to pay rarely makes sense. Many learners cancel right after reaching their goals, freeing up cash for other priorities.

Budget constraints

Your financial situation can shift quickly. Services like Pearson and Duolingo offer real value, but if money is tight, cutting education costs becomes necessary. Before you cancel, check whether you qualify for a refund under your terms.

Shifting interests

Learning priorities evolve. If a service like Think Iq Academy no longer matches your goals or teaching style, there is no reason to keep paying monthly. Moving to a better-fit platform benefits both your wallet and your progress.

How Tocancel helps

Managing cancellations across 139 education services can feel overwhelming. Tocancel simplifies this by generating a personalised cancellation letter tailored to your provider, whether that is Twinkl, Cengage, or another platform. We print your letter, apply an official stamp, and send it via registered post so you have proof of delivery. This means you are legally protected every step of the way. With Tocancel, you complete the entire process at home, without hunting for a printer or a post office.
